Auto Insurance

When "Full Coverage" is not so full..........

Auto insurance is not as simple as "Give us a call and save 15%". Your needs for auto insurance should be evaluated with the same fact finding questions and dialog as any other important insurance program. After a thorough personal review, we provide an insightful proposal that explains all of the important elements that you need to protect your lifestyle and your vehicles. We are you local PROGRESSIVE Insurance Agent.

Challenge: Do you know what your policy covers you for?

Illustrated below are the 4 most common coverages for your vehicles that you should understand and  be familiar with. If your agent has not explained these coverages to you in detail, call us.
Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability

Your auto "Liability" coverage is what protects your financial assets for claims and suits against you. The "per person", and "per accident"  injury limits should be chosen carefully. This is the maximum amount of protection you will have should you be sued for injuries to others. For example, what is the value of a claim for lost wages by a young physician who is rendered a quadriplegic? Not $50K or ever $100K.

Property damage liability is the coverage for damage to other vehicles or other property you damage. For example, it only takes 25% of a vehicle to be damaged for the repair costs to exceed its new replacement value. What is the cost to repair a $250K Bentley that you crashed into? Not $50K and maybe not even $100K. Check the pictures below and then  look at the the umbrella liability page for true peace of mind
No Fault or Personal Injury Protection (PIP)

No fault coverage is the primary coverage for injuries to you for up $10K of medical bills at 80% of your lost wages  at 60% no matter who is at fault. You must seek treatment within 14 days. There are other limitations and coverage triggers that are too detailed to cover here. We are glad to discuss and explain them to you during our forensic review of your coverage needs.
Uninsured and Under-insured  Motorists coverage

No, this coverage does not pay to repair your vehicle by an uninsured driver / vehicle. It pays for bodily injury to you after your PIP is exhausted and you are paid the limits of the other insured driver (Under-insured) or you are paid because the other driver has not bodily injury coverage. (which is NOT mandatory for them to have coverage for) The only mandatory coverage required is PIP and $10,000 of PROPERTY damage liability.  Do you think UM is important now? Is $25,000 enough for YOUR injuries? Perhaps not. Choose your coverage carefully.
Damage to Your Vehicle - Comprehensive and collision

Comprehensive coverage is also known as "other than collision". Fire, Theft, flying objects that damage glass, vandalism, windstorm, etc.  Most often coverage is provided for "Actual Cash Value" the value of the vehicle at the time of loss...mileage, wear and tear considered.

Collision not only covers loss and damage that you cause, but covers damage from other that have not property damage liability or not enough as well as "hit and run" damage.  Always subject to your chosen deductible, most claims you make under this coverage are charged against your loss experience and may increase your rates.
